More About Me

I'm a German native, but my heart's compass led me to London just before the big 3-0. It was there, amidst the bustling streets and black cabs, that I met my hubby. I'd love to say it was during a run, but we met in fact at the cozy pub where our running club would gather afterwards. Together, we embarked on another adventure, trading the rainy skies of London for the sunny shores of Valencia, Spain. And that's where our family story took a new turn with the birth of our son in 2015. No matter the country or language, home for me is wherever my family is.

But here's a little secret: my work-from-home journey, which began in London in 2012, wasn't always a walk in the park. I found myself wrestling with stress, overwhelm, unhealthy eating habits and nagging health challenges. Despite countless doctor visits, it felt like I was hitting a brick wall. So, I embarked on a quest for self-healing, turning to books, diving into articles, and getting lost in online courses. My mission was simple: to heal from the inside out.

Through trial, error, the support of my husband and a whole lot of self-love, I discovered the magic of a wholesome diet and mindful living. Those 'aha' moments weren't just fleeting sparks; they ignited a passion within me. And every day, I'm on a journey of continuous learning, soaking up new health wisdom like a sponge.

My Story - How Working from Home Made Me Sick, and How I Managed to Heal from Three Chronic Illnesses

The Leap to Self-Employment and Home Office

In 2012, I quit my steady job and embarked on my new life as a self-employed entrepreneur in London. I relished the independence that came with this decision, but soon realized that striking a balance between work and personal life in a home office setting was quite challenging. My days consisted of long working hours in my small apartment, quick unhealthy meals, and little physical activity.

Healing from my First Inflammatory Disease Caused by the Unhealthy Lifestyle at Home

My health started to suffer under these circumstances to such an extent that one day I developed an eyelid inflammation called blepharitis, which, despite countless doctor visits in London and Germany and various medications, did not improve. With blepharitis, the eyelid becomes red, swollen, and itchy. It was very uncomfortable and it started to take a toll on me. Every glance in the mirror reminded me of my illness. My husband encouraged me to keep searching for a solution. I finally came across a book about the connection between diet and inflammation. I decided to adopt a strict diet based on vegetables and legumes, excluding sugar, alcohol, meat, and flour. Within just two weeks, my blepharitis disappeared completely. It was a life-changing experience and felt like a small miracle to me.

Healing from Extreme Back Pain Caused by Excessive Sitting in the Home Office

In 2018, I was confronted with the next health challenge. We were living in the countryside at that time and were dependent on our car for all errands. The long hours of sitting in the home office and in the car had a negative impact on my back, and I started experiencing intense pain. It was so severe that I would wake up in the middle of the night and could only alleviate the pain after walking around the apartment for a bit, before managing to fall back asleep. I underwent two physiotherapy treatments, but neither brought the desired success. My husband and I decided to move closer to the city to minimize our car use. Now we could cover many distances on foot or by bicycle. In addition, I invested in a standing desk for my home office, I perform a 15-minute morning workout every day, and have been able to significantly increase my physical activity despite working from home. These adjustments helped me completely overcome my back pain. Today, I still work full time from home, but I am completely pain-free.

Healing my Second Inflammatory Disease

In 2019, my health was tested yet again. After switching to a vegetarian diet rich in potatoes and carbohydrates, I developed severe acne. Through an online program for adults with acne, led by a dermatologist, I discovered once again the healing power of the right diet. Inspired by the principles of Ayurveda, I followed a strict diet plan. After two years of consistently sticking to the diet, I feel literally comfortable in my skin again. It is clearer and healthier than ever before. I was able to completely heal my acne. The dietary change also had other remarkable effects on my well-being: a significantly increased energy level throughout the day, no more brain fog, improved concentration, and a more relaxed approach to stress. I truly believe that we are what we eat.

What I Learned for My Home Office Work

In summary, I was able to heal from three chronic diseases solely through dietary changes and increased physical activity. My diet plan allows me to eat until I'm full. I never starve and still manage to maintain my ideal weight for many years. My exercise plan is tailored to my workday at home and spread throughout the day. I don't have time for the gym, but my body is well-toned. Over the years, I've developed a system of balanced nutrition, adequate exercise, and a healthy mindset that aligns me with my body. I quickly recognize my body's warning signals and can make necessary changes. Despite high work demands, I manage to face each day full of energy and with a positive mindset as a working mother. And the best part: The system is super simple and can be easily incorporated into the day. It is specifically tailored for working from home.
